Mission routing is the first application decision. A polished file sent to a mission that does not cover the applicant can still fail before the evidence is considered.
Mission requirements can change. Confirm the responsible mission and live official guidance immediately before submission and payment.
Use permanent residence, not travel convenience
Post-31 August 2026 notices focus DTV filing on the country of nationality or permanent residence. Being a tourist in a country, finding a lower fee or hearing that a post is faster does not establish filing eligibility.
Check the mission’s jurisdiction
Find the Thai embassy or consulate responsible for the relevant country and read its visa page. Some missions cover more than one country. Confirm that the e-Visa system routes the application consistently with the mission’s published jurisdiction.
Keep physical-location rules in view
The official e-Visa portal says applicants can apply only while outside Thailand. Individual missions can also require the applicant to remain in their jurisdiction during processing or attend an interview.
Record the evidence
Save the mission URL, date checked, residence wording, fee, processing guidance and accepted evidence. Recheck it immediately before payment because rules and fees can change.
